Finding Large Files on the Mac
When you’re getting "start up disc is full" warnings, you need to find what’s taking up the most space, back it up to another disc, and then delete it and empty the trash. Here’s how to find those large folders.
Open hard disc in List View
Close all programs and windows. Double click on the hard disc icon. Then click on List View icon.
Open Show View Options from the View Menu
Check Calculate All Sizes
lso, make sure that Size is checked in Show Columns.
Click on the Size column
This sorts the folders so that largest comes to the top. Most likely the Users folder.
Open the Main User folder. This should show you where the problem is. Now you have to go through individual files, backing up and/or eliminating those that you don't need to have on your main drive.
